Sharks Fin is so widely popular in China that you can buy it at many common supermarkets and stores in the country. But it doesn’t necessarily come cheap. Since it is considered a delicacy, there can be a hefty price tag attached to it, but it’s a price that many are willing to pay. In fact, since there is so much money to be made in shark finning, people will resort to illegally fishing them from the oceans, regardless of the law.

The Danish company Maersk, is one of the world’s biggest shipping conglomerates and has a great reputation as well. It’s so large that it’s actually divided into four separate companies, of which their shipping portion is one of the most substantial divisions. More than 80 percent of the world’s international trading is done via cargo ship, and Maersk prides itself in being one of the most reliable cargo companies in the world. So when it was found out that they had somehow become a part of the illegal shark finning industry, it came as quite a shock to much of the world.
