On his very first mission with the SSCS, he traveled to Antarctica along with the rest of the crew set up in Asia. His purpose was to help document the mission through his photography and show the Sea Shepherd’s campaign that was known as ‘Operation No Compromise.’ It was basically an entire fight against whaling, and they were hoping to expose and stop Japanese whalers from killing and poaching whales.

Pursuing His Passion

And his passion didn’t stop there. Gary would continue to fight for other issues regarding the welfare of the world’s oceans. One of his deepest convictions was that of illegal shark finning trading. Although people don’t realize it, the work that the Sea Shepherd crew does is dangerous, and they risk their own lives doing what they believe is in the best interest of endangered species, as well as for other ocean wildlife conservation.
