Typhoon Ida, also known as the Kanogawa Typhoon was one of the strongest tropical cyclones recorded and also the sixth deadliest typhoon to reach Japan, making landfall on southeastern Honshu. Ida brought massive flooding resulting in mudslides which were recorded at 1,900 incidents. The typhoon caused an estimated $50 million in damages and took the lives of 1,269 people
