Dreaming Of A Different Life

After her father had passed away, Laura took a trip to New York and decided that she wanted to move there. Her friend, Christina Guerrero, had said “She just was looking for something new. She wanted to start a new life. Her dad passed away not too long ago, and she kind of wanted to move.” Another friend, Julie Cortez, had explained that Garza had been talking about the move to NY for quite some time. She explains, “Everyone gets bored down here. She [Laura] said she always like New York and wanted to live there.”

Making It To The Big Apple

In her hometown of McAllen, there were only 130,000 residents. Garza was working for Charlotte Russe, and was known to be friendly, with a lovely smile. Her friend Christina says that they would talk about moving out of Texas together. She says, “I remember her [Laura] saying she liked the big city.” She even said that Laura was trying to convince her to move north as well. She continues, “I was considering it. But I don’t know about it anymore.”
