On June 14, 1946, First-generation immigrants, Fred Trump, whose father hailed from Germany, and Mary Ann Macleod, whose family originated from Scotland, welcomed their 4th child, Donald, at the Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in Queens, New York.

Donald’s paternal grandfather, Frederick Trump, first came to America in 1885 and only gained his citizenship towards the end of the 19th century. Shortly after pledging his allegiance to the United States, the German immigrant and businessman began building his family’s fortune in “boomtown” restaurants and real-estate in Seattle and Canada’s Klondike region, a practice that the young Donald would eventually learn from and use, to grow what will today be known as the Trump empire.
