The Olympic games were once again held in Munich years later in 1972, but this was also just as controversial. The death of 11 Israeli athletes drew attention and it became a world issue once more. And as for the original stadium, it was renovated and restored for the 2006 World Cup. Nonetheless, a portion of Estal was left untouched.

While much of Estal has remained untouched, it has become a tourist spot. Thousands of tourists visit the grounds each year. People get to see a glimpse of what was inside Hitler’s mind at that time. This has brought sadness to many people. In fact, the decrepit buildings and barracks have become unsafe that parts of it are off-limits to the public.
