So, what exactly happened during the 1936 games? To start with, the Olympic committee granted Berlin the right to host the event. Hitler was just coming into power then. Hence, banners that had the swastika sign on them were hung beside the Olympic flag. This had offended a lot of people as many had fled Germany then because they experienced the unfair treatment between Jews and Germans.

As soon as the officials of Berlin got word that they were going to host the games, they drew all the resources they had and put them together in order to build the extravagant village in Elstal, Wustermark, a place found at the edge of Berlin.
