Hitler wanted to fool the public. On the gateway of the Olympic village was an inscription that said, “To the youth of the world.” He wanted to inspire the visitors that came, but at the same time, he wanted to fool them into thinking that everything was more than all right with the people in Germany.
Not Fooled
Still, the rest of the world heard murmurs from those who actually lived in the hell that was Germany then. They disliked the Nazi leader and wanted nothing to do with him. So much so that they wanted to boycott the Olympic games altogether.
