Leafy Greens
Leafy green vegetables are low in calorie, low in digestible carbs, high in fiber and are great sources of micronutrients, including vitamin C and minerals. Vitamin C has been observed to reduce inflammation and fasting blood sugar levels in diabetics, and have the same effect in people with hypertension. Not only that, leafy greens are good sources of the antioxidants lutein and zeaxanthin, known for their protective properties, especially for the eyes.
