Whoever said that eating healthy means skipping on the good stuff, is clearly misinformed. Not only is it a good source of protein, iron and micronutrients such as B vitamins, steak also contains a compound called conjugated linoleic acid or CLA. Experiments have shown that CLA found naturally in beef fat works to fix impaired blood sugar metabolism, lowering blood sugar levels.

Of course this doesn’t mean that you get to eat the whole cow. Keeping your portion size at 3-4 ounces is enough to get your daily fix of CLA. The choice of meat is also important as range-fed beef has been found to contain more of the compound compared to other variants.
