Lying to Avoid Punishment

Jacque’s family immediately noticed her disappearance. They knew that Clay was somewhat involved. However, they didn’t have evidence at that time. So when they reported her missing, the cops immediately went to Clay’s home to get his statement. Of course, he didn’t admit to anything in the beginning. He had managed to contrive a story that he hoped would be believable enough.

He Says

Clay told cops that he and Jacque did have an argument. She walked out on him and left his home in Woodland Drive by foot. This had happened at four in the afternoon. He also left his home to cool his head off, but when he came back, her blue Honda Pilot was gone. The car was later found abandoned by the interstate with a flat tire.
