Thousands of kids were displaced from their families after the holocaust. A friend of their mother took the twins under her wing and found a way to bring them back to Romania. Eva and Miriam went to live with their fellow survivor and aunt, Irena, where they tried to adjust back to normal life after a traumatic year in Auschwitz.

By 1950, the sisters decided to immigrate to Israel. According to Eva, this was the first time she remembers ever having a good night’s sleep. While they were liberated in 1945, the first five years were all about absorbing what happened, adjusting to the changes, and being able to let go of the past. The question now is, was Eva really able to move on?
