Mengele has performed several experiments on Eva and Miriam. While they have done their best to move on, their bodies have never fully healed. Miriam suffered kidney problems that Eva believes were a result of the injections given to them. This is also what killed her, but despite the pain felt even decades after, Eva decided to do the noblest thing, she decided to try and forgive the Nazis. She lost her entire family, and yet, she chose the path less taken, a testament to just how wonderful and resilient this woman is.

BEYOND FORGIVENESS

Eva founded the CANDLES Museum in 1984. This is an acronym for Children of Auschwitz Nazi Deadly Lab Experiments Survivors. Visitors could finally see the Holocaust through the eyes of the children who were part of Mengele’s experiments. Her main goal was to tell the story from a point of love and understanding. It brought people together and made them realize how good always prevails in the end.
