By May of 1944, after four years of occupation, the Nazi went full force. The entire family was transported to the regional ghetto in Simleu Silvaniei. They finally were kicked out of their own home, the one that their parents worked hard for. The blood, sweat, and tears they put into providing for the girls were now irrelevant. Just as they were about to settle in, they were once again transported via a cattle car to a place the people now call the Auschwitz death camp.

DEPRIVED OF THEIR NEEDS

This was the ultimate show of disregard. Eva and her family were deprived of food and water. They went 70 hours without taking in anything. They were hungry and thirsty, but more than anything, they were all very frightened. This strip of land that brought them to Auschwitz had torn thousands of families apart, including Eva’s. Little did they realize that on this very year, they would lose so much more than their material belongings.
