A Mexican reservoir hides a 450-year-old church, which was recently revealed in an astonishing drought. The church, which was known as the Temple of Quechula, was to be the centerpiece of a burgeoning town. It was abandoned when a series of plague hit the town between 1773 and 1776.

 

The re-emergence of Mormon Island

The lost mining town of Mormon Island waited to be revealed beneath California’s Lake Folsom. And in one of the most severe droughts to hit the state, it did re-emerge, and tourists flooded in.
