Her Teeth Were Deplorable
While the 14-year old girl looked like she was only 7 or 8 years old, her teeth were in an even worse state. It was said that, “while she did have a toothbrush, it was very old and dirty and her stepmother, who must watch her when she brushes in order to make sure she does not drink any extra water, often doesn’t want to wait… so she goes without brushing.” In fact, the little that the girl was given to eat or drink was painful to ingest because of the atrocious state of her teeth.
