Last Ditch Effort

Evan decided that one last attempt wouldn’t hurt if it would give him the answer he needed. This time around he felt that flying the drone closer would be worth the risk. With adrenalin pumping in his veins, he piloted the drone over the the hole but the drone couldn’t capture an image that would lead him to a conclusion. He circled around the area and pulled the drone away from the hole towards the dam wall. It was there that he found the answer he tried so hard to get.

One Gigantic Drain

As it turns out, his initial assumptions about what the hole was weren’t close to what it turned out to be. The story behind the mysterious hole has now been unravelled: it was a man-made spillway designed to prevent Lake Berryessa’s water from breaching the Monticello Dam. A few people from the city knew that it was there but more had no idea what it was when it first appeared. The reason behind their surprise upon seeing the hole can be explained by the events surrounding the lake in the past years.
