Given that this 118 feet long and 60 feet above ground bridge is made of woven grass, it may take a little bit more than some good old courage to actually walk across it. Woven at first by Incan women as small thin ropes, it was later braided together again, by the men this time. This was to make thicker ropes until they were tough enough to make into an actual bridge that was strong enough to carry people, a tradition that has gone on for over 500 years. And while people are still allowed to cross it, another steel bridge was built nearby which allows the less adventurous travelers to take a peek at the woven bridge from a much safer vantage point.
