The Shooting Begins

In a split second from when Kody and Michelle had heard the shooting begin, they had originally believed that it was fireworks going off somewhere to end the show. How wrong they were. Apparently, it was bullet shots, and the worst possible thing was about to happen. Michelle was going to get hit on the left side of her chest, almost instantly going down after she was shot.

Trying To Shield Her with His Body

Without concern for himself, once Michelle had hit the ground, Kody covered her body with his, attempting to protect her from any more possible bullets, just like many others around them were doing for their loved ones. Kody recalls, “She got hit and I turned and saw her immediately fall to the ground. She was literally right beside me, maybe two feet away.” Once the gunfire seemed to stop, even for just a bit, Kody began to look for someone to help him get Michelle to safety.
