The rich 35-year old businessman was at a point in his life where he wanted to finally settle down, and Jill had mesmerized him so much that he was ready to begin that new life with Jill in Louisiana.

Unfortunately at the time, Jill was not yet divorced from her second husband just yet. But knowing she wanted to marry someone new, she finally asked Steven for a divorce, and while waiting for it to be granted, Clark was already making plans to bring her home to meet his family who lived in Ohio.
