2. Flint, Michigan
The second-worst city to live in in both the state of Michigan and the entire United States, almost 40,000 residents out Flint’s population of 97,000 live in poverty. Its financial burdens stem from a lack of jobs as employers and businesses avoid the city altogether due to a high crime rate and a lack of workers holding higher education degrees. Environmental issues also add to this city being avoided, after a water crisis that started in 2014 which stemmed from a contaminated supply left residents helpless and businesses closing eventually.
