Not Calling In
The leader of the expedition, Dyatlov, was scheduled to send a telegram to the Sports Club by February 12. This was to make sure to inform others that the group had safely made it back to Vizhai, after their whole trip. But after a few days had passed, and no telegram arrived, those back at the camp in Vizhai started to wonder what had happened. It wasn’t uncommon for delays to happen, but when February 20 came and went, 8 days from the original day they thought they’d hear from the group, the others decided to send out a search party. And what they were about to discover was going to haunt their memories forever.
