The Ten Hikers
The group of hikers, which had 8 men and 2 women, were all students form the Ural Polytechnic Institute in Russia. They took a train ride up to Ivdel in Sverdlovsk Oblast, then a truck up to Vizhai. Vizhai was supposedly the last area before the forests leading into Death Valley that still had inhabitants, and it was there that they began their trip.
