One of the main investigators was a Soviet official named Lev Ivanov. After looking into all the different portions of the case, it was concluded that ‘an unknown elemental force which they were unable to overcome’ was what killed them. But to others, Ivanov supposedly said that ‘he thought they’d been killed by aliens in a UFO.’ But there were others that had their own ideas.
