Death Valley
Kholat Syakhl is located in the Ural range of mountains in Russia, and its also known as “Death Valley.” Translated from the Mansi Tribes who are local to that region, it actually means “Mountain of the Dead.” And part of the reason why it was given such a sinister name was because the Mansi Tribes said there was no game, since there were hardly any animals for them to kill for food in that area. Therefore, it was considered ‘dead.’
