Then came the shocking news: a body has been found. On May 16, a decomposing body believed that to be of Riley Crossman, was found at North Mountain at the 5500 block of Tuscarora Pike in Berkeley County. Due to its decomposing state, the body has not yet been positively identified but authorities are certain that it is Riley Crossman. Furthermore, it will take quite some time to determine how she died, if possible. It was then brought to the Office of the State Medical Examiner in Charleston for an autopsy. Though this provided some closure for the family, Riley’s father expressed that their hope was shattered and “our lives will be forever altered. We now have to come to terms with the new reality that we will not bring our baby home alive.”
