He doesn’t bite
The realism of the underwater beast was achieved through perfect camera angles by which the scenes were shot in addition to the realistic shark mock-ups created for the movie. Actors were initially taken aback when they saw the prop sharks but Spielberg was more than game to show them that his “pet” didn’t bite at all.
