1999’s The Matrix is one film that broke conventional boundaries in movie-making, fusing CGI with wire-fighting stunt maneuvers popularized in Hong Kong martial arts films, to effectively tell the story of Neo, the protagonist who wakes up from his computer generated slumber to a world completely run by machines. The series also introduced a character that made fans seethe with hatred: an evil computer program called Agent Smith which gains its own consciousness and seeks to take control of the dreamworld for himself.
