It also wasn’t a surprise that many of his students, colleagues and other citizens had deemed him a hero for his actions on that fateful day. Many students even got in touch with his son, Joe, to tell them how grateful they were to his father for saving their lives that day and that they considered him a true hero.

Librescu’s Funeral

While Librescu’s life was honored at an Orthodox, Jewish funeral home in Brooklyn, New York, his body was flown to Israel for his actual funeral. There were over 500 people in attendance, aside from his family, that included foreign diplomats, friends and other people who wanted to honor his life, as well as his death.
