Cyclical Awakenings

Both her family, and more so the doctors, wanted to know what was making her suddenly wake after being ‘asleep’ for so long. Neurologist Dr. Randall Bjork had explained, “There’s really no reference point in our medical literature… Christa’s brain is on the ropes so to muster enough energy to have three days of conversation she has to be in relative hibernation for months. This is a miracle. This is all mystical and I can’t explain it. We don’t have a name for this, but I call it ‘cyclical awakenings’,” although others may just call them ‘miracles.’

Sarah Scantlin

Sarah Scantlin, a much younger woman at the time, got into a horrible accident when a drunk driver rammed her down in the middle of a parking lot. She would spend the next 20 years in Diversicare of Hutchinson, being cared after by the medical staff as she couldn’t do anything for herself.
