Shocking Brain Damage

When Haleigh was admitted to the hospital after her last beating, the damage to her brain was so intense that doctors claimed it was comparable to the damage one would get from a high-speed car accident. But before Haleigh’s aunt could be jailed for her horrible deeds, she died, along with the grandmother, in a suicide pact where they killed themselves. Her stepfather, on the other hand, was alive and would face charges if Haleigh were to be taken off life support and woke up from her coma in order to testify against him.

She Woke Up

Phenomenally, after Haleigh was taken off life support, she slowly woke up and began regaining her strength. Although she was confined in a wheelchair, she was able to communicate with a letter board and two years after her awakening, she was able to testify about all the horrible things that her adopted parents had done, sending her adoptive father to jail for more than 10 years. And thankfully, Haleigh ended up getting adopted by her then foster parents.
