Meat Bagel Recipe

Ingredients: (makes 6 servings)

1 ½ onions, finely diced
1 tbsp butter/ ghee/bacon fat or any fat of choice
2 pounds ground pork or any meat of choice
2 large eggs
2/3 cup tomato sauce
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp sea salt
1/2 tsp ground pepper

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Line baking dish with parchment paper or silicone baking pad

2. While waiting for the oven to reach temp., Heat butter (or any cooking fat of choice) in a pan over medium heat, Sauté onions until tender and translucent. Remove the onions from the pan and allow to cool before adding them to the meat.

3. Mix all ingredients in a bowl, making sure that the spices are evenly distributed.

4. Divide the meat mixture into 6 portions, and roll each into a ball. Make a divot in the middle and flatten slightly to resemble the shape of a bagel.

5. Place the uncooked meat bagels on the baking tray you prepared, making sure that there is enough space between them.

6. Bake for 40 minutes or until the meat is browned and cooked through.

7. Allow meat bagels to cool. When warm enough to handle, slice the meat just like a traditional bagel and fill it with your choice of fillings such as a slice of avocado, a fried egg, tomato slices, lettuce, bacon etc.
