Faking His Own Suicide

When he realized that the police were on his back and he was in deep trouble, he faked his own suicide, sending in a note to the police via fax, saying he killed himself because his mother had died. The police were quick to look into his case and found him healthy and well just a couple of hours later. He ended up being charged for fraud and was given 18 months in jail.
