Investigating Further

When the authorities investigated the case further, they would find out that the hole in the wall was not the only hiding place inside of Dobbs’ home. They alleged that the house had lots of different hiding spaces like ‘a hole in the floor and another hold carved into the wall behind a dresser.’ And yet, Ricky’s grandmother audaciously insisted that what they had did was all for his good.

She Did Nothing Wrong

Dobbs would actually insist that what she did was basically ‘keep the little boy safe.’ She would even share that the ‘crawl space’ where Ricky was found, had already been in the house when she had bought it 14 years prior. She even said, “In two years time, [the boy spent] maybe five minutes” inside the hole in the wall. She didn’t bother to deny that she was keeping him hidden from the rest of the world.
