Deciding On Joint Custody

Despite not liking each other much anymore, the couple decided to end things amicably before Shannon gave birth, but still share custody of their son. Sadly for Michael, who was part of the Illinois Army National Guard, he would be sent to Iraq right after Ricky was born. But he would make sure to see his son whenever he had the chance upon his visits back home.

Keeping Ricky Away From His Father

As time went on, Shannon would begin to keep Ricky away from his dad. And while the two shared legal custody over the child, Shannon would soon begin to disregard their agreement. Eventually, Michael chose to do what he believed was his only choice to ensure that he could continue to be part of his son’s life.
