During the four-month trial, witnesses would share that Ricky had only been allowed outdoors at nighttime, as well as within fenced in areas as well, those ‘not visible to passers-by.’ And after everything, both Shannon and Diane pleaded guilty to the charges against them. Shannon was given 1 month in jail, $1,500 in fines, and two years probation, while Diane got 12 days in jail and $1,000 in fines. The judge would also allow Shannon to ‘pursue visitation rights’ once her time was done.

Since Michael and Ricky were reunited, Michael decided then and there that he was going to make sure that his son spent as much time outdoors as he could. And Ricky would soon begin joining swimming competitions, participating in rock climbing, basically reacquainting himself with the outside world. Thankfully since then, Ricky has grown “leaps and bounds,” and under his father’s loving care, he’s continuing to do very well.
