A Vigil In Brooke’s Honor
Brooke’s friends had held a vigil for her when her murderer was finally captured. One of her good friends from school had said that she ‘thought Courtney was “smirking” in the photo that flashed on the TV screen.’ She even went on to say, “If you were to put his picture up next to Brooke’s, you’d be looking at complete opposites. Brooke is the embodiment of goodness and happiness, and he is the embodiment of all that is evil.” And after all was said and done, it seems that she couldn’t be more right.
Justice Served
Finally, Courtney’s trial was held on February 1, 2010. He was served with 14 counts of rape, sodomy and sexual abuse, plus aggravated murder for Brooke Wilberger. He is now living out his life sentence in his home state of New Mexico. Aside from his case with Brooke, and all the other cases where he was already found guilty, police began checking into the three other kidnappings that he could be tied to.
