3. Excessive Thirst
Excessive thirst, or polydipsia, is a non-specific sign in many medical conditions but is characteristically found in people with high blood sugar levels. In people with pancreatic cancer, glucose uptake by the cells is impaired, raising blood sugar levels. This is because of the insulin imbalance caused by the damage to the pancreatic cells, a condition that mimics diabetes.
Being thirsty often can be due to a change in the body’s ability to transfer needed fluids between cells and tissues because of the high concentration of sugar in the blood.
