Finally Free

When the police finally had Elisabeth in their custody, the first thing she said to them was “No one will believe me. If I tell this exactly how it all happened, no one will ever believe me.” Authorities reassured Elisabeth that she was finally safe, so she went on to tell them her incredibly sad and disturbing story of what she and her children endured at the hands of her sick and disturbed father. And it was much worse than what they could have ever conceived.

Guilty On So Many Levels

Authorities entered Josef Fritzl’s underground dungeon on April 27, 2008. They were able to get the 2 remaining children and put them in protective custody. Josef’s trial lasted four days as he was charged with false imprisonment, rape, incest and manslaughter by negligence. The 31 years of ter, or, abuse, rape and neglect was put out for the world to see, and it was inconceivable to most what Josef had done to his own flesh and blood. It was even reported that “he was surprised by how quickly Elisabeth had betrayed him.”
