Beer and other distilled liquor have been found to raise uric acid levels in the blood, therefore increasing the likelihood of one getting gout and having repeated attacks of joint pain. However, moderate intake of wine doesn’t appear to affect the risk of getting gout. It is still best to avoid alcohol, especially beer, and err on the side of caution lest you want to suffer the painful consequences of an attack.
