21 Governments That Don’t Want You To Visit Their Country

12. Algeria

Algeria is Africa’s largest country and tourism in this area is still a novelty. Followed by Tunisians (the country’s neighbours), ethnic Algerian French citizens represent the largest group of tourists. Outdated visa requirements, poor hotel accommodations, and the perceived risk of terrorism and fear of being kidnapped are some of the factors for Algeria’s low number of visitors. Some of the main attractions in the country are the extraordinary Saharan region and in the north, you can find stunning coastlines and many well-preserved Roman cities. But in spite of its beauty, most traveller’s attractions in the country are depopulated.
