21 Governments That Don’t Want You To Visit Their Country

16. Libya

Libya is located in North Africa, bordered by the Mediterranean Sea, Egypt, Sudan, Chad, Niger, Algeria and Tunisia and is best known for its ancient Greek and Roman ruins and its stunning Sahara desert landscapes. The tourism industry in Libya was hit by the Libyan Civil War and the country is currently not issuing tourist visas. In 2013, a number of governments throughout the world advise their citizens against travelling to Libya and today after the upheaval caused by Libya’s revolution in 2011 the country remains in the grip of  civil war. The Sahara desert with its seas of sand the size of Switzerland, mountains with prehistoric rocks and sheltering palm-fringed lakes are some of the scenic places to plan a visit to when hopefully the country recovers its stability.
