19. Honduras
The city of San Pedro Sula in Honduras has, for several years, ranked as one of the world’s most violent, carrying the highest homicide rates in the world. The US Department of State continues to warn its citizens that the level of kidnapping, crime, and violence in Honduras remains critically high. Throughout the country, criminal activity is a serious concern. The Government of Honduras doesn’t have enough resources to respond to it and as a result criminals operate with impunity. Sexual assault is a terrible issue at the moment and Honduran local police and medical staff do not have the capacity to properly handle the situation and/or help the victims. Visas are fairly easy to get and many countries only need a valid passport to visit the country.
