21. Turkey
Turkey is a nation located in eastern Europe and western Asia. The number of arrivals to the country began to fall in the second half of 2015 and last June the country saw a 40 per cent decrease in foreign visitors compared to June 2015 due to a general increase in political violence, political tension with Russia, terrorist attacks, and the increasingly authoritarian policies of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Most attacks have taken place in the south and east of Turkey and also in Ankara and Istanbul targeting the Turkish state, civilians, western interests and tourists from western countries, particularly in the major cities. The tourism industry in the country is predicted to suffer from the recurrent attacks on tourist spots during the past years and as a visitor you are encouraged to co-operate with police officials, and keep your passport, and a copy of your e-visa or your residence permit with you at all times.
