Sonny Melton, A Newlywed Nurse From Tennessee

The courage of this next victim of the 59 people tragically killed was so unbelievable that he has made headlines in many news articles. The 29-year-old nurse, Sonny Melton, had been watching the concert with his barely new wife when Paddock began shooting into the crowd. He and his wife, who had come from Tennessee, were there to enjoy their time in Vegas listening to music during the 3-day festival. Upon hearing the gunshots and seeing people scrambling for their lives when the gunman started his unimaginable reign of terror, it was shared that Melton used his own body to protect his wife, unfortunately getting fatally shot in the back.

His Wife’s Hero

His wife Heather shares, “He saved my life. He grabbed me and started running when I felt him get shot in the back.” She continues, “At this point, I’m in complete disbelief and despair. I don’t know what to say. Sonny was the most kind-hearted, loving man I have ever met. He saved my life and lost his. I want everyone to know what a kind-hearted, loving man he was, but at this point, I can barely breathe.”
