Seeing Him

Baby Robert stayed in the nursery for a whole week. His parents didn’t come to see him until one of the doctors convinced Mary to do so. Then, she finally gazed upon his face and immediately decided that he was too ugly to be brought home. She didn’t know what to do. In fact, she even contemplated on giving him away.

Understanding Mom

When Robert contemplated on what had happened, he understood his mother. She was supposed to fall in love with him immediately and think he was every bit as perfect. Unfortunately, he was just badly deformed that she had to process several feelings at once – shock, disbelief, and anger. She had to work through all these.
