Changing Face

At the age of four, a team of surgeons wanted to reconstruct Robert’s face. Despite being disfigured, his brain functions were at par with any child his age. It was the outside that was the problem. And at that time, reconstructive surgery was just discovered, but there was at least a way to move his bone structure around to make him look as normal as possible.

Strength In Him

As an ugly child, Robert knew his limitations. He spent dozens of hours in the hospital, finding a way to fix his face until he was finally able to see properly. While he was far from good looking, he knew that there was significant improvement with how he looked. The one thing that he was most grateful for was the fact that the operations didn’t affect his family’s financial status. The government-paid insurance helped the Hoges immensely.
