5 Agonizing Months Later

Despite having her abductor in custody, authorities still couldn’t find her body, and Rodriguez wasn’t talking. The police would go on to search a number of areas throughout the harsh winter and layers of snow but were still coming up short. The Sheriff handling the case, Dick Roue, was determined to find Dru, no matter how long it took.

A Lucky Break

Finally, on April 17, 2004, police caught a lucky break. Finally, after 5 months of searching, Dru’s body was found by Sheriff Roue lying face down in a ravine. When they found her, it was reported that she was half naked, with her hands tied behind her back and a rope tied around her neck. The remains of a plastic bag were also around the rope, making police assume that it had once covered her head. She had been assaulted, raped, stabbed, plus her neck had a five and a half inch cut across it.
