The North Korean Special Operation Force (NKSOF) or the Korean People’s Army Special Operation Force undergoes intense training like other military training camps around the world. The soldiers are equipped with “elite” military units trained to perform military, political, or psychological operations for North Korea, Rocket News reported. Videos have also leaked that soldiers go through extreme army drills such as smashing of large rocks on their stomach and beating them with sticks.

North Korea has about 180,000 special operational forces soldiers. The Korean People’s Army works under the Songun policy, the central institution of North Korean society that faces primary adversaries such as the US Forces Korea, Korean Demilitarized Zone, and the Republic of Korea Armed Forces. The Special Operation Forces, however, is missioned to breach the fixed defenses of South Korea, to conduct battlefield, and strategic reconnaissance, as the Defense Intelligence Agency Handbook described.
