This photo was said to be taken during North Korea’s celebration of the “Military First” holiday and the recent success of its ballistic missile testing, Independent.co.uk reported. In response to the celebration, traditional mass dancing demonstrations were held across the country, the biggest of which took place in Kim Il-sung Square. Mass dancing is a common form of celebration in North Korea during state festivities and birthdays.

The dancing spectacles are often rare and spontaneous, typically take place in front of important political monuments, and are unfortunately, staged. The “Military First” holiday celebrates the anniversary of the Songun policy introduced by Kim Jong-Un’s father, Kim Jong-il, in 1960, providing primary power to the North Korean army in state politics and funding, JK Daily reported.
